Pyrophyllite Grain
Pyrophyllite is also known as Hydrous Aluminium Silicate [Al2SiO4O10(OH)12]
Pyrophyllite is commonly used in Ceramics , Refractories , Insecticides and as a filler in Paints.
It is generally massive with a foliated structure similar to Talc.It is found in various colours like white, off-white, silver white, apple green , greenish gray , and dark green. It has greasy feel soft mineral having hardness of 1 in moh's scale.The lusture is vitreous and its specific gravity is 2.58 to 2.83. white , Pearly Hydrous Aluminium Oxide AlO{OH} , found in Bauxite , Corundum & Dolomite and used as Refractory and Abrasive.If mineable in large quantity , it would be economic importance as a source of Aluminium.
